Fragile Identity
2018 - October 11
Having the first project out of the way (with rave reviews of course), Nate didn’t hesitate to drop Project II on us. This one was a little more complicated. We were given a 18“ x 24” piece of 1/8” plate glass and tasked to cut at least 25 pieces from it to make something that we would consider a form, shell or shelter for a “fragile idea”. Me being me, I decided to make a crown, exclusively out of triangles. Crowns are usually reserved for who we consider important, like royalty. My thought process for this piece was around the “fragile idea” of identity, why you do what you do, what makes you who you are, things along those lines. The triangles are to represent the life cycle, birth, life, death and repeat.
